Things to eat BEFORE exercising
Hello everyone, Rachel here with a new tip!

This was requested a very long time ago by @allisonhicks
I am so sorry for the long wait but I hope I can still help you!

----

Depending on your workout, there are different foods you should eat before working out.

Here are some examples;;

If you are going to do any CARDiOVASCULAR ACTiViTY::
+ take in a carbohydrate-rich, low-fat snack one-half to two hours before activity.

If you are going to do any FLEXiBiLiTY EXERCiSES::
+ take in fruits such as apples etc.

If you are going to do any MUSCULAR STRENGTH EXERCiSES::
+ try proteins and vitamins.

I also recommend that you drink about 7 to 1O oz. of water for every 1O or 15 minutes of exercise.

Healthy Summer Snack Ideas
Hey girls, it's Maddie! Today, in light of the fast-approaching summer vacay ahead of us, I decided to give you some recipes for excellent, /healthy/ snacks to try out!(:

=-=-=-=

O1) CUCUMBER // ORANGE FLAVORED WATER

♥ ingredients ♥
- 1 orange
- 1/2 cucumber
- 6 cups water

♥ instructions ♥

O1) Cut orange in half, then thinly slice it into half circles. Thinly slice 1/2 cucumber.

O2) Add cucumber and orange to a pitcher. Add 6 cups water to pitcher.

O3) Chill in refrigerator and drink within 2 days.

O2) WATERMELON FETA SALAD

♥ ingredients ♥
- 2 cups watermelon (diced)
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped dill (optional)

O1) Mix feta, watermelon, and dill in a small bowl.

O2) Eat immediately or else the watermelon becomes soggy.

O3) GRiLLED "DESSERT"

♥ ingredients ♥
- 1 20-ounce can of Pineapple Chunks in Pineapple Juice
- 3 bananas
- 1 lemon
- 7 skewers
- cinnamon (optional but great addition!)

♥ instructions ♥

O1) Drain pineapple and slice bananas into small pieces (the same size as the pineapple).

O2) Stick pieces onto skewers and place on a plate. Squeeze lemon juice over the sticks, cover, and store in refrigerator until ready to grill.

O3) Grill at medium heat, turning every 2 minutes until slightly charred (5-7 minutes). Dust with cinnamon and enjoy! Can be served hot or room temperature.

*** Makes 7 sticks.

O4) CiNNAMON BAGEL W/ AVOCADO

♥ ingredients ♥
- 1 cinnamon raisin whole grain bagel
- 1/2 sliced avocado

♥ instructions ♥

O1) *** Optional: Toast bagel to warm it up in the toaster for 1-2 minutes.

O2) Take your 1/2 avocado slice and scoop it out into a bowl. Mash it into small lumps // a nice consistency.

O3) Once satisfied, spread as much you want onto your bagel and enjoy! (Maybe add a nice, cool glass of green tea with it! All the flavors mixed together are delicious!)

O5) HOMEMADE HEALTHY TRAiL MiX

♥ ingredients ♥
- 3 kinds of your favorite nuts (I personally like cashews, almonds, & pecans. Make sure they're RAW.)
- 1 type of dried fruit (i.e. raisins)
- something sweet (dark chocolate hershey chips maybe? dark chocolate actually has health benefits so DON'T sweat the calories.)

♥ instructions ♥
O1) Combine all ingredients into a container and blend equally. Go a little lighter on the "sweets".

O2) *** Optional: Add a little seasoning such as cinnamon.

Keeping a food journal

One month ago - 975 views
Keeping a food journal
Hello lovelies!

THiS lovely idea was requested by @youngandinfinitexo ! Thanks for the request <3

On to the tip!

----

Write down what you eat on three weekdays and one weekend day, using the following guidelines::

+Record everything you eat and drink immediately.
+Note what you're doing while you're eating―driving, watching TV, etc.
+Describe how you felt while you ate: angry, sad, happy, nervous, starving, bored?
+Be honest. It's a journal, not a newsletter, and no one has to see it but you. I've seen some girls post their journal on Tumblr, but please don't do it! It's just ruining people's dashboards.
+At the end of each day, examine how your emotions affected your eating.

Every day, try to make sure that you're getting at least::

+9 servings of whole-grain cereal, rice, or pasta (1/2 cup) or bread (1 slice).
+5 servings of fruits and vegetables (1/2 cup).
+3 servings of low-fat milk, yogurt, or cottage cheese (1 cup).
+8 ounces of lean meat, poultry, or fish or a nonmeat equivalent (1 ounce of meat = 1 egg, 1/2 cup beans, or 2 to 3 ounces of tofu).

Record your stuff in::

+ A College Ruled notebook, using one page per day.
+ Printing out this{http://www.realsimple.com/static/pdfs/foodjournal.pdf} and filling it out each day.
+ Install an app called "Calorie Counter" on your smartphone and fill it in there!

The possibilities are endless! If you have another way to do this, and you would like to share it, please please pleaseee comment it down below!

Keeping a food journal does not mean starving yourself to eat less. It means keeping track of your daily exercises and food intake to see what foods are unnecessary in your diet.

How To Live With Curly Hair

How To Live With Curly Hair
Hey everybody, it’s Maddie here with a tip on dealing with curly hair! I don't really have super thick, curly hair or anything, but I'LL DO MY BEST!

Anyways, here’s the tip and I hope this helps you!(:

=-=-=-=

♥ KEEPiNG iT HEALTHY ♥

+ Use a mosturizing shampoo and LOTS of conditioner. It will help with tangles & knots.

+ Comb your hair while IN the shower. Helps the follicles stay smooth when drying, because combing when your curly hair is DRY makes it frizzy as HECK! (I do it while conditioning, personally.)

+ When conditioning your hair, trying leaving some in your hair to keep it soft, but if it gives you dandruff or an itchy scalp, don’t do it anymore.

+ Use as little heat as possible. But if you just /have/ to blow-dry it, invest in a really good heat protectant spray. IT WORKS!(:

Keeping Your Skin Healthy ☼

One month ago - 1,098 views
Keeping Your Skin Healthy ☼
Hey girlies, Maddie here!(:

Sorry for the inactivity, you all know how stressful and busy the end of the school year is. .-.

But, anywaysss, here's a health tip about keeping your skin beautiful!

=-=-=-=

O1) SUNSCREEN

+ This is an obvious one. Use a little EVERY day, even if it's cloudy! The sun is /always/ shining, even through all the clouds in the sky!

+ When going to the beach, or planning to be outside for a long period of time, DO NOT SKiP this step, k? It will only take a minute!(:

+ If you hate the cream kind, get the SPRAY! So much easier and faster!(;

+ If you're fair skinned, get one with 25+ SPF! But if you have darker skin (African Americans) or if you're just naturally tan (Italians, Greeks, Indians, etc.) a sunscreen with SPF 15 will be perfect for you.

O2) EXFOLiATE

+ Exfoliating your skin occasionally will get rid of all the dull, dead skin on your face and keep it bright and pretty!

+ Find a nice exfoliating scrub at the store and use it 1-2 times a week as the directions say!

+ You can also make your own scrub at home with easy-to-find ingredients! Some recipes: http://skincare.lovetoknow.com/Home_Remedies_to_Exfoliate_Skin

O3) LOTiON

+ NO ONE enjoys having dry, cracked skin right? Use lotion after taking a shower, right before going to bed! You'll wake up in the morning with visibly softer skin.

+ I personally recommend Gold Bond and Cocoa Butter. Both brands are GREAT!

O4) MAKE-UP

+ Wash it off every night. Get it ALL off, girls! Even the mascara. This will prevent excess oil on your skin, causing less break-outs!(:

+ Buy a foundation with SPF in it for extra sun protection so you don't have to put heavy, regular sunscreen on your face.

+ De-clog your pores once every 2 weeks or so to get rid of un-wanted blackheads, dirt, and make-up that never got washed off!

O5) BE MiNDFUL ABOUT YOUR DiET

+ No, I don't mean become an obsessive health-nut and eat only fruits & veggies for the rest of your life, but greasy foods means greasy skin.

+ Chips, chocolate, and other snacks with lots of oil are known to cause acne. Acne is a no-no, so try to limit your intake of those kinds of foods.(:

+ Meanwhile, a little more fruits and veggies WiLL benefit your skin, but you don't need to go overboard. A serving of fruit & veggies a day will keep the bad acne away! (I just made that up on the spot, ok? Don't judge c;)

That's all for now, guys! Thanks for reading, we love youuu! ♥

Healthy Lunch Choices

Healthy Lunch Choices
Hey pretty girls! (and boys, thats ok too c:)
I'm em, your new tip girl! I am here to help you stay healthy&&happy! This is a healthy food series I am going to start doing! The first one will be for school cafeteria lunches!
---

Ok, so here are some healthy options!

1;; Salad! Salad is a very healthy&&easy way to stay thin! i eat one every day, because if you get a good one it can be very delicious too c:

2;; Sandwich (on wheat!!) Sandwiches are available at most places, and if you stay away from the big ones with lots of cheese and sauces you will be a ok! Always make sure they are on wheat! (real wheat) my rule of thumb is if you can squish it into a ball it is probably not good bread (i.e. wonder bread). Also stay away from tonss of cheese(a little is ok) and tonsss of sauces like mayonnaise. Once again, a little is ok but don't go overboard

3;; water! Drink lots of water! It is good for your body and is a very healthy choice! Stay away from sodas&&other high sugar drinks! It is amazing how much just cutting soda out of your diet can change a lot!

4;; Protein from the main entree! If some sort of (edible) meat is available, have a small amount! Protein can really keep you going throughout the day! If the meat looks unbearable, have some meat in a sandwich like 2;;.

5;; A small cookie/other dessert! The word small is very important here! Having a 100 calorie cookie or small piece of cake is absolutely fine! It can make you feel happier! What you DON'T want to do is gorge on 3 different huge marshmallow cream cakes or whatever. Stay healthy with your choice!

---

Hope you girls enjoyed this tip about healthy eating! I will do one about eating out and packing your lunch and snack time soon! live a happy&&healthy life!

☮ out, em// @eighteen-cool :*
